MALA Launches First Community Builders Council

Community Builders Council

Council convenes leaders and core supporters to strengthen MALA programming

On April 20, MALA convened its first Community Builders Council meeting over luncheon at The Metropolitan in Chicago. Attendees included MALA’s core supporters and community leaders from across the greater Chicago area. Many thanks to this glamorous members-only space at the top of Willis Tower for hosting us!

Attendees engaged in a moderated conversation with Bashir Muhammad, Chairman of the Westside Health Authority and cofounder of tech firm NTG, and heard updates on MALA’s development from MALA Deputy Director Ahmed Omar.

The Community Builders Council will convene quarterly discussions on innovation and community building, help set the strategic direction for MALA in Chicago, and serve as a mentoring resource for MALA Young Leaders. MALA plans to launch Community Builders Councils in other cities as the MALA community grows.
